Start with area and pack coverage
The planning example used for CT-01 is a 20 kg bag covering about 35–40 sq. ft. On a 1,000 sq. ft. floor that is 1,000 ÷ 40 = 25 bags at the high coverage, and 1,000 ÷ 35 ≈ 29 bags at the low coverage. The estimate is therefore 25–29 bags.
The calculator uses the coverage printed in the CRIC catalogue. CT-01, CT-02, CT-02 Prime and CT-03 are listed at about 35–40 sq. ft. per 20 kg bag. CT-04 is listed at about 45–55 sq. ft. per 20 kg bag. PU Adhesive is listed at 2–4 kg per m², which is about 10.8–21.5 sq. ft. from a 4 kg pack. Each of those pages also specifies a 3 mm minimum bed with a 6×6 mm notched trowel.
Why the same bag covers less on some jobs
A thicker bed, a larger notch, an uneven substrate, back-buttering and wastage all consume more material. Porous backgrounds and hot, windy conditions can shorten open time and increase waste. The catalogue itself notes that actual coverage depends on substrate condition and application method.
Use the estimate to plan, then confirm
Order from the estimate, keep a margin for wastage, and check consumption on the first few square metres. If the bed is deeper than the assumption, recalculate before the job is halfway through. For a project-specific figure, send the area, tile size and product to the CRIC team.
